The Position:

The Staff Accountant performs professional accounting duties supporting the monthly and fiscal year-end close and financial reporting process. This position will maintain the accounting records for multiple company divisions and affiliates, and should have knowledge of full-cycle business processes and internal controls.

As an Accountant a typical day might look like:

  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries, including corporate allocations
  • Post cash deposits and enters transactions from daily banking reports and credit card transactions
  • Performs invoicing for management services
  • Performs all A/P activities, including entering and tracking vendor invoices, payments and reconciliations
  • Prepares payroll journal entries and performs payroll-related reconciliations, including payroll taxes and benefits
  • Performs daily bank reconciliations
  • Creates and maintains daily and weekly spreadsheets
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Completes monthly account reconciliations
  • Prepares financial statement workpapers and supporting schedules
  • Assists in preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements
  • Assists in providing deliverables to external auditors
  • Assists in mapping business processes, implementing internal controls and creating efficiencies
  • Contributes to process improvement and implementation of automated financial tools
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Performs other duties as assigned

This job might be for you if:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business required.
  • You have 3+ years of work-related experience including daily A/P and cash transactions.
  • You have strong knowledge of MS Office Excel and accounting software.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • You are highly organized with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • You have excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
