Job Description:

Fresh Direct is seeking a full-time motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our accounting team on a hybrid-model basis (2 days remote, 3 in office). Our ideal candidate has a positive attitude, is adaptable, detail-oriented, and is interested in supporting and improving accounting processes and the Fresh Direct control environment. This position will play a key role in the Company’s accounting, tax, compliance and reporting activities and should have at 6-8 years of qualified work experience in accounting or tax roles. Applicants should have both public and private experience and possess strong technical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside Internal Controls team to continuously improve accounting processes and controls
• Prioritize development and documentation of processes surrounding the following areas: inventory, sales tax reconciliations, SAP based tax depreciation for owned assets, and Ahold Delhaize sustainability reporting
• Monthly close: Reviewing of journal entries and work papers, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting related to Cash, Fixed assets, Prepaid expenses, Expense accruals, and Payroll. Preparation of schedules or entries on an as-needed basis.
• Period reporting: Assist with monthly financial submissions to parent company via Hyperion including specialized cash flow and intercompany reporting. Preparation of quarterly/year-end disclosures and interfacing with tax group for entries
• Work with the Ahold Delhaize tax group to coordinate tax return filings and data requests, coordinate with Fresh Direct business partners for tax incentive filings, assist with any tax audits and compliance filings
• Support information gathering and review for insurance policy renewals and actuarial valuations
• Support budgeting for intercompany activities including debt, royalties, insurance, cross charges for utilization of shared services
• Manage and mentor direct report and maintain strong working relationships with them and other team members
• Understand and use general ledger (SAP) and internally developed database systems to extract meaningful information, coordinating with IT group
• Research and review of technical accounting matters using Ahold resources and IFRS materials. Preparation of accounting memorandums based on findings.
• General accounting support including supporting the annual external audit
• Assist with ad-hoc projects and other duties as requested

Education and Qualification:

• Thorough knowledge of internal control environment, accounting procedures and principles
• Excellent professional communication skills and a team mentality, managerial experience strongly preferred
• Able to take full ownership of and responsibility for assigned projects and related deadlines
• Ability to adapt and a passion for learning
• Tax compliance experience is a plus
• Comfort learning and working within multiple General Ledger systems and charts of accounts
• Understanding of intercompany transactions
• Ability to work with detailed data - strong analytical skills
• Strong skill with Excel and other Office programs
• Time management and task prioritization
• SAP, Hyperion experience is a plus
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Masters preferred
• 6-8 years of tax or accounting experience in a mix of public and private accounting roles
• CPA required

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
