The new Minnesota Veterans Home- Montevideo is scheduled to open in the summer of 2023! The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is seeking an individual to provide leadership in the Montevideo home's Business Office and assist in building and developing the Business Office team.
This position directs and supervises the employees and activities of the Business Office of the Minnesota Veterans Home, so that accounting, budgeting, payroll, procurement of goods and services, and revenue cycle management program functions are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Establish and monitor internal controls, and ensure all state and federal regulatory requirements are met relating to the business operations of the home.
Job responsibilities include:
Two years of professional-level experience in accounting or financial management, which includes experience in at least four of the following areas:
Experience as a supervisor, team lead, lead worker, or project lead.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Skills in using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software (preferably Microsoft Access, Excel and Word).
Ability to:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related area.
Experience supervising accounting/finance staff and functions.
Experience in government accounting.
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the fiscal operations of State agencies.
State of Minnesota experience with contracts, SWIFT, SEMA4 or warehouse reporting.
Experience applying provisions of collective bargaining agreements and/or compensation plans.
Experience in a skilled nursing facility with knowledge of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rules for reimbursement and delivery of services, nursing home business operations or resident trust.
Knowledge of federal Veterans Administration per diem for state Veterans’ homes and/or MN Administrative Rule 9050 and other relevant statutes pertaining to Veterans’ home finances.
This position requires successful completion of the following:
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
