Construction Project Engineer/Assistant Estimator
Position Summary
The Construction Project Engineer/Assistant Estimator role is a full-time salaried (if graduated) or part-time hourly (if enrolled in last year of college/technical school) position. This role will assist the Estimators and Project Managers with heavy civil construction projects from the estimate through project completion by providing administrative and process support. This is an entry-level position that will require the capacity to later expand into more complex duties.
This has been designated as a safety-sensitive job because it involves performing one or more tasks/duties that could reasonably affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task(s) and others.
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions
· Always make safety the foremost importance in everything you do
· Attend pre-bid meetings, compiling detailed notes
· Assist with contract administration
· Maintain document control on all documents related to projects
· Perform take offs by reading plans, gathering measurements, and calculating quantities of materials needed for timely and accurate estimates
· Track bid progress and deadlines, distributing timeline notifications to relevant parties
· Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors
· Compile all necessary information in a clear, organized manner for Estimators to complete bids
· Assist team with transition from bid estimate to job launch through operation planning
· Assist Project Managers throughout the life of projects through various field engineering tasks, cost control measures, material procurement, material usage oversight and occasional surveillance of field activities
· Assist with project scheduling, track project progress including daily photographs, and schedule and send timely notifications of schedule updates
· Track field equipment
· Order tools and supplies and coordinate delivery
· Review daily costs and submit cost reporting
· Verify and reconcile field quantities daily
· Prepare RFIs and submittals
· Investigate problems that arise during construction, identify root cause and propose solutions
· Understand how to bill entities correctly to ensure prompt payment
· Provide administrative support to Superintendents when needed
· Attend safety meetings and Superintendent meetings
· Represent company in a positive image
· Observe all Company policies and procedures
· May perform other duties as assigned

Work Conditions
· Professional office environment, requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting.
· Driving to/from and presence at job sites to perform duties on occasion.
· We operate in all seasons. Dress appropriately for current weather conditions when field duties are required.
