Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico's (UNM) Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) seeks a Data Analyst to join our vibrant, committed team of professionals who support the built environment at UNM. The Data Analyst will be responsible for overseeing our Project Management Information system, which includes reviewing the quality of data collection to validate the accuracy and legitimacy of data, generating departmental and ad hoc reports, performing data analyses and providing technical guidance in supporting users in the daily use of data systems.

UNM's PDC provides seamless delivery of professional support services to internal clients using best practices in capital project planning, development, and construction.

Duties of the Data Analyst will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and utilize data collection instruments and methods for the evaluation and quality control of research or operational data.

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and summarize data in preparation for the generation of statistical and analytical reports.

  • Develop and/or present training programs in the field of expertise to staff, student employees and interns performing related work; guide program users as needed.

  • Maintain computerized collection and tracking of relevant data.

  • Utilize specified statistical software to analyze and interpret research data as appropriate to the individual position.

  • Maintain appropriate records of research methods and results.

  • Design and/or develop specific databases for the collection, tracking, and reporting of research data.

This position will be critical in the development and implementation of improved data management strategies and systems for PDC. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills, will take the initiative to improve processes, and have the ability to troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: • Five years or more of demonstrated direct experience with database administration.

  • Experience with user support training in providing technical guidance in design and functionality of a database system.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience, both in writing and in person.

  • Ability to research independently and apply problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Advanced analytical skills.

  • Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Project.

  • Detailed orientated.
