Designer - Historic Decorative Arts

Conrad Schmitt Studios is a nationally recognized decorative painting and stained glass firm. Founded in 1889, this studio takes part in the restoration of religious and historic buildings throughout the United States.

Job Description

This unique team-based creative role requires a designer who will blend decorative arts with computer design, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, to create interior renderings of churches, theaters and other historic buildings. In addition to creating renderings and decorative motifs this individual will also design/create multiple layer stencils for use in painting, design stained glass windows and create materials that aid creation of murals. Time management and adaptability to work between multiple deadlines is important.

Qualifications:

· Proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

· Have traditional arts skills (painting/drawing).

· Have knowledge in art history and design.

· Demonstrate understanding of print media.

· Capability of reading architectural plans.

· Be capable of working in a team-based environment, working closely with designers, artists and project managers.

Appreciated Skills:

· Have an understanding of liturgy and ecclesiastical symbolism.

· CAD experience (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit).

· Attentiveness to technical and budgetary considerations

· Technical precision and methodical organization

· Understanding of complex document construction and file management.
