The Director of Product Insight is responsible for researching, formulating, and validating product design targets, via primary and secondary research, to guide Bobcat product development and the total value proposition. The Director of Product Insight will accomplish this by developing and leading a team of experts in the areas of industry product performance, operator (user) experience and total cost of ownership. Specializing in benchmarking products, in and outside the industry, the team will identify opportunities to improve design/cost/margin, transference of operator command to performance, ease and consistency of use, maintenance, and re-sales costs. The deliverable is driving those opportunities into the product roadmap and total value proposition of the Bobcat brand to meet and exceed customer expectations allowing Bobcat to achieve sales and financial targets.

Responsibilities:

• Identify opportunities and solutions for Bobcat Product Roadmaps by understanding consumer preferences across a variety of durable goods in all industries.
• Establish a validated customer profile and product performance specifications to ensure Bobcat product development projects achieve specification targets that maximize market opportunity.
• Create and Execute the Global Product Useability and UX Strategy.
• Leverage customer interviews, internal and external data as well as secondary retail market information to establish validated Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Bobcat target metrics.
• Using all the information gathered by your team (1-4), represent the customer’s needs/perspective through your department’s role on Bobcat product development teams.

Requirements:

• Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Business Administration
• Experience Required: 10 >15 years
• Travel Required: 10-20%
• MBA preferred.
• Equivalent experience in lieu of degree accepted.
• Experience preferred in manufacturing, engineering, or product management.
• Demonstrate the following: Principles of Lean Six Sigma & QFD,

Business acumen (i.e. distribution, cost accounting, margin improvement).
Drive execution of initiatives across functions, products, and global regions
Lead and develop direct reports and teams. Strong strategy/planning skills.
Excellent communication skills. Change management and creative problem solving. Successful process-driven mindset. Ability to deliver results.
