Job Description :

The Education Specialist will further the impact and excellence of two YouthPower365 programs: PwrHrs Afterschool and AmeriCorps. This is a grant-funded position for one year, with opportunity for long-term employment. YouthPower365 is a youth-serving nonprofit in Eagle County, which serves 16 public schools in expanded learning.

Afterschool: The Education Specialist will support YouthPower365 in developing high quality programs for youth K-8. The individual will help design and supply program plans, curriculum, and materials to promote a positive learning environment for teachers and students. A qualified candidate will have experience in curriculum and instruction as well as positive youth development.

AmeriCorps: The Education Specialist will play a key role in researching, developing, and designing a Teacher Certification pathway in alignment with YouthPower365’s AmeriCorps program and in partnership with external partners at Eagle County School District and Colorado Mountain College. This position will navigate both federal AmeriCorps program requirements and regulations along with alternative teaching certification specifics.

Requirements:

  • Highly organized, and able to balance the schedules and needs of multiple stakeholders and site locations
  • Strong problem-solving skills, while being able to adapt and be creative when changes occur
  • Knowledge of public school and OST (out of school time) systems
  • Strong background in education of both children and adults
  • Previous experience working and excelling in a fast paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on timelines, quality, and delivery
  • Capable of remaining focused and calm under stressful situations
  • Proven ability to make critical decisions independently and with little supervision
  • Team approach and willingness to assist others when called upon
  • A strengths-based approach to children and families

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Conversational in Spanish and English
  • Understanding of state licensing requirements
  • Experience with AmeriCorps

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Curriculum

  • Develop, source, and implement curriculum for afterschool
  • Establish and lead teacher advisory group
  • Design curriculum plan that will align YouthPower365’s Teacher Pipeline program with YouthPower365’s AmeriCorps program

Teacher and Staff Support

  • Support teachers in implementation of programs
  • Provide onsite support for elementary school programs as needed
  • Collaborate with program managers for programming and scheduling

Partnerships

  • Work with Colorado Mountain College, Eagle County School District, and other external partners to research, analyze, and develop a Teacher Pipeline program
  • Explore other career pathways for service members in the community
  • Work collaboratively with other youth serving organizations and schools

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
