Overview

Exciting opportunity for a full time medical assistant at a walk-in clinic in the New Iberia area. Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated.

Job Responsibilities

- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules, organizing patient flow, assisting patients as needed and assisting provider with various procedures.

- Fulfills patient care by collecting patient clinical information including, past medical history, past surgical history, any known allergies, social history, current medication lists, vitals, etc.

- Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include setting up instruments and equipment according to practice policies and procedures, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance and restocking exam/procedure rooms.

- Fulfills organizational responsibilities by responding appropriately to emergency policies, and sharing problems relating to patient and/or staff with immediate supervisor.

- Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities which include, checking vital signs and physical exam preparations. Tasks also include biohazard waste disposal and monitoring, quality control methods, such as CLIA-waived testing, capillary punctures and venipunctures, specimen handling (urine, vaginal, stool and sputum).

-Fulfills clinical phlebotomist responsibilities which include correctly identifying patients and properly labeling specimens and correctly identifying and utilizing proper tubes, containers, transport media, and storage temperature for each test type.

-Other Duties as assigned

Preferred Work Experience

At least one year working in a medical office as medical assistant

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
