Position Summary:

The Health & Safety Project Manager for Penske Logistics will lead the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of key business-wide Safety programs and initiatives. These programs will help improve safety performance throughout Penske Logistics’ transportation and warehouse operations.

The success of these safety programs will require the Health & Safety Project Manager to collaborate with numerous functional groups (internal and external) and establish working relationships with various levels of management.

Strong organization will be critical to ensure proper planning, resource allocation, and execution, as well as strong communication skills to ensure all stakeholders and team members are aligned.

Management of the various projects will be accomplished through direct assignment and/or appropriate delegation to other team members.

Responsibilities

Project Scope:

  • Directly lead and manage key safety-related projects

  • Work alongside internal customers to ensure alignment with intended objectives and approach

  • Manage key vendor relationships to ensure they are meeting expectations

  • Routinely assess current safety processes looking for improvement opportunities, then converting those opportunities into actionable improvement plans

  • Exceptional project management skills ensure proper tracking and management of multiple projects running concurrently

  • Ability to map out and document current processes and identify opportunities for consolidation and streamlining
Customer Experience:

  • Clear and Concise Processes – all outputs that require documentation must be clear and concise while also specifically outlining the expected behaviors and actions

  • Meaningful Metrics – data is a key driver in the identification of improvement opportunities and should help guide specific areas of improvement

  • Well Organized – detailed status of all projects that is documented and ready for periodic review

  • Strong Communication – clearly and concisely written communication in the form of processes, procedures, and presentations, as well as strong verbal communication with key team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

  • Experience in logistics (transportation / warehousing) preferred

  • Experience in Quality systems preferred

  • Ability to map specific processes using documentation software (e.g. Visio) required

  • Experience documenting the detailed status of multiple projects using project tracking software required (e.g. Microsoft Project, SmartSheet)

  • Experience in all phases of project life cycle and Project Management

  • Strong Analytical and influencing skills

  • Ability to effectively utilize CAP techniques to facilitate safety changes throughout the organization required

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, establish priorities and to accomplish goals & objectives

  • Internal and external customer oriented with excellent communication skills required

  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing critical tasks

  • Advanced problem-solving skills required

  • Ability to use effective written and verbal skills to communicate policy and procedural issues required

  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills required

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
