Description

The Human Resources Generalist aids with and facilitates the human resources processes at their business location. They are responsible for running the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department at their location including hiring, interviewing, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and procedures.

Hours & Benefits

Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM, Full-Time, Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers weekly to understand hiring needs, skills, and competencies required for openings.
  • Ensures compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Oversees new hire and onboarding process including I-9 and E-verify completeness and accuracy.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff or senior level HR Staff.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Attends and participates in weekly manager meetings, employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
  • Oversees maintenance and accuracy of HRIS system, human resources files, records, and documentation; ensures periodic audits of HR files and records are completed.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of employee or employee related information, human resources file and records.
  • Oversee their location’s payroll functions including daily timecard monitoring, daily attendance tracking and corrective action processing, fixing processing errors, and distribution of checks.
  • Handles the planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organizational meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and any additional company celebrations.
  • Oversees scheduling, assignments, daily workflow, and yearly review of subordinate staff in the department.
  • Assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Utilizes available resources and participates in professional development, training, and certification activities.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resources information system (HRIS), Microsoft Office and/or similar computer applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
  • Four or more years of Human Resources related experience
  • Ability to read and speak English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least one year of human resources supervisory experience.

Working Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment and warehouse environment. It entails routine use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, etc.). There are times where the person within this position will need to work in our warehouse to be available to personnel and may hear honking from equipment utilized in the warehouse. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer utilizing full dexterity of all fingers. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Must be comfortable and able to access and navigate each department at the warehouse facility.
