GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides support functions to medical providers and office staff. Accompanies providers on home visits as needed to gather vitals, administer vaccines and take specimens from patients for delivery to the lab. Additionally, this position will conduct scheduling and intake functions by gathering all required information via telephone to register a patient and gather their social, medical, and surgical history.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer phone calls, provide medical triage, and route questions appropriately.
Conduct scheduling for patients needing to be seen for an acute visit.
Verify insurance information and take copies of cards at patient visits.
Assist the provider during visits by taking a complete history of the patient including medications, social history, surgical history, and current diagnosis and symptoms, and documenting in the patient chart.
Draw blood and/or collect urine specimens, store them for transport and deliver to a lab or store them in the office for next-day drop off.
Take all vital information and record it in the patient chart.
Carry all necessary equipment for conducting visits including lab supplies, scales, forms, and patient educational materials to each visit.
Support providers by completing forms and routing them for signature.
Refill medication requests following the policy
Performs and/or assists in special projects and assignments as requested.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation and provide current proof of automobile insurance.
  • Must possess a cell phone.
  • Must test for tuberculosis upon hire and review annually.
  • Must be able to pass our required background check Nationally, through the State of Michigan, Ichat, Central Registry Check clearance and the Systems for Award Management.
  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and experience in operating multi-line electronic telephone systems, computer keyboarding and data entry activities. Medical Assistant certification and prefer 5 years or more of experience.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of regulations and instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to work well with people on a personal basis.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, and program standards and guidelines. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, educators, social services personnel, state politicians and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use Excel spreadsheets on computer.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Basic typing skills, Microsoft proficiency, ability to use the internet, printers, copiers, scanners, and password management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
The employee frequently has to be able to drive themselves to the patients’ homes.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
