Black Walnut Management Company LLC, the operations and management company for Walnut Creek Mine located in Bremond, Texas. The Walnut Creek Mine includes an 80-cubic-yard dragline, a 29-cubic-yard mass excavator, a 24-cubic-yard hydraulic backhoe and a fleet of 150-ton end-dump trucks to move more than 20 million cubic yards of material annually. The captive lignite operation can produce more than 2 million tons of lignite per year and incorporates a blending program that provides consistent quality lignite to fuel a 308-megawatt power plant.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mining Engineer for the Walnut Creek Mine.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Mine Planning for Dragline and Truck Shovel operations (short, mid and long term plans)
• Understanding of regulations associated with contemporaneous reclamation operations.
• Mine surveying including field work and data reduction (scanners and drones)
• Civil design and project management of mine infrastructure construction projects
• Production tracking and reporting
• Lignite royalty calculations
• Budget preparation
• Financial analysis to support capital and O&M construction projects
• Identifies and performs tasks as required to meet objectives
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Day to day requests from operations, maintenance, or environmental/engineering.
• MSHA - reporting and mapping per regulations
• Annual Pond Certifications (RRC / MSHA)
• Track civil projects progress (project evaluation thru in-service)
• As-Built Construction Certifications
• Work with Environmental team support contemporaneous reclamation and other regulatory compliance for the mining operations
• Work with corporate and site teams to prepare the annual Asset Retirement Obligation mapping and report.

• This position works independently, applying extensive SME knowledge to solve multiple projects.
• This position must coordinate effectively with all work groups.

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:

• 4 yr. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil highly preferred)
• Functional knowledge of Carlson Software strongly preferred
• 10 yrs. related job experience (mining experience preferred)
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
