JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Night Security Officer

Supervisor: Chief Security Officer

General Job Description: To ensure the overnight safety of every student on campus. All male military boarding school. Work entails providing security in the student dormitories.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure the overnight safety of every student on campus.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students and staff.
• Regulate student’s behavior on campus.
• Assist with controlling disturbances or acts of defiance. Request assistance from school administration and/or police when necessary.
• Search out and confiscate contraband under the direction of school administration.
• Investigate, review, and report to supervisor, as appropriate, on accidents, incidents and violations of school policies.
• Patrol and confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for authorization and identification as needed.
• Follow school policies and administrative rules and regulations.
• Maintain proper paperwork/reports as directed by supervisor.
• Ensure doors are locked and opened at designated times determined by school administration.
• Supervise and patrol assigned school activities.
• Observe and report violations of safety and health codes.
• Demonstrate problem solving and responsible decision-making skills.
• Perform all duties and services faithfully and satisfactorily at the designated time and place, and for the duration prescribed by school administration.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or school administration.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and project professional appearance and wear the administration approved uniform, adhering to school regulation sand grooming standards.
• Monitor security surveillance equipment.
• Submit work orders as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Private security, public police, or military experience required. Minimum 2 years.
• Must obtain and provide a copy of current state of Alabama education background clearance.Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing, and/or walking long periods of time, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, moving light furniture and/or equipment, walking several hours per day. Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).

Work Environment:

Work may be performed outside in seasonal temperatures as well as inside of buildings. Work is performed during night hours. Must enjoy working with kids. Flexibility, sense of humor and patience are required.

Terms of Employment:

• The period of employment runs from early August through late May, coinciding with the academic calendar for the beginning and end of the school term.
• The hours of responsibility are from 10PM to 6AM with the occasional shift outside this window as deemed necessary and appropriate by the school administration.
• Employment will be considered permanent through the end of academic calendar after the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
• Compensation and Benefits:
• Personal leave of two (2) days or 16 hours is allowed per school year after the successful completion of the first 90 days of employment. Leave must be taken in 4-hour blocks.Employer:
