Nursing Assistant Instructor (RN license required) - Astoria, Oregon

Clatsop Care Health & Rehabilitation Center is looking for an RN to serve as our Nursing Assistant Instructor. Our instructor will mentor, educate, and assist Nursing Assistant (NA) students in the skills necessary to pass the state licensing exam. This is not a full time position. The Nursing Assistant class will run quarterly and require approximately 120 - 130 hours over a 5 week period.

Job Function

The NA Instructor will teach the laboratory and clinical portion of the course in accordance with Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) on site at Clatsop Care Health & Rehabilitation. This instructor will not be required to lead the classroom/didactic portion of the course. The NA Instructor shall work in conjunction with administration and didactic instructor to develop, implement, and evaluate the NA training program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Functions within the scope and practice of a RN in the State of Oregon.
• Provides skills and clinical instruction and supervision for the program in accordance with requirements of OSBN to adequately train candidates for licensure.
• Works with the Administrator and Nurses to identify, plan, implement, direct, and evaluate the educational programs as listed above.
• Regularly evaluates and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
• Assists students in registering for the OSBN CNA licensing exam and associate paperwork and administers certifications for the completion of coursework.
• Maintains accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content in accordance with requirements of OSBN.
• Assures students know and adhere to facility policies and practices - especially as they relate to resident safety, infection control, fire safety and care standards.
• Assists with screening potential students for appropriateness and ability to complete program successfully and comply with facility practices.
• Provides a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
• Promotes the mission of CCHRC in a positive manner with all students, participants and partners, and a consistent exchange of information in a transparent and collaborative environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Current unencumbered RN license in the State of Oregon.
• At least 2 years' experience in providing direct nursing care and 1 year working in long-term care. Teaching experience is a plus, but not required.
• Possess the ability to effectively motivate others, present information and respond to questions in group settings and on individual basis.
• Possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds and develop insight into students' current circumstances and goals.
• Possess the ability to work well with others and maintain a calm and harmonious work environment.

Compensation:

$31.90 - $41.51 DOE
