POSITION SUMMARY
The Principal is the leader of the school’s K-8 program and culture. The Principal reports to the Head of School and is responsible for the supervision of teaching staff and the implementation of the school programs to meet the needs of students, teachers, and parents. In cooperation with the Head of School, the Principal will establish and implement a thriving culture of teaching, learning, and growth. The Principal is employed as a role model for students, staff, and the entire school community.

Finalist candidates will be invited to school for a full day of interviews and discussion during the month of February.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
· A servant-leader whose conduct exemplifies Biblical principles, personal integrity, and professionalism.
· Skilled in identifying problems, resolving conflict, and implementing solutions to complex challenges.
· Passionate about connecting with, leading, and mentoring staff.
· Commitment to professional growth and education as a professional.
· Empathetic, sociable, and highly diplomatic.
· Strong written and oral communication.
· Excellent planning and organizing skills.
· Demonstrated supervisory experience, preferably in an educational setting.
· Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teachers through professional growth, curriculum development, coaching, or related work.
· 5+ years successful teaching experience, preferably in a Christian independent school setting.
· An enthusiastic growth mindset with demonstrated experience leading and managing change.
· Valid/Current First Aid and CPR Certification (provided).
· Clearance from Criminal Justice fingerprint/Background Clearance.
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; Principal certification preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
· Equip teachers to view their instruction as an act of worship and an opportunity to shape students’ hearts and develop their unique gifts for the glory of God and the good of others.
· Encourage teachers to develop a deeper understanding of God through the lens of the learning specific to the subject. Create a deeply-embedded sense that ECS teachers are a fellowship of Christians growing together in their faith.
· Help teachers embrace the school’s core instructional commitments and strategies, while allowing teachers personal creativity, autonomy and style in their teaching practice.
· Oversee and train teachers on the school’s classroom instructional design and materials, including the use of a range of assessment strategies to improve learning for each individual student.
· In cooperation with other school leaders, lead staff meetings, professional growth, and other staff fellowship opportunities.
· Lead teachers in creating caring, loving, and safe learning environments, including maintaining order in the classroom through clear routines and a welcoming, hospitable space.
· Continually and relentlessly assess the academic culture of the school and seek areas for improvement.
· In cooperation with the Head of School, develop a professional growth and evaluation model which empowers a growth mindset in teachers and allows them to pursue improvement both at the personal level and across the organization.
· Assist teachers in partnering lovingly and patiently with parents, caregivers, and other adults who help provide influence in students’ lives.
· Adopt and implement an approach to using instructional technology wisely and effectively as a tool to improve learning.
· Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
· Develop and distribute budgeted funds and other resources dedicated to improving student learning.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
· Meet regularly with and supervise teaching staff[KM1].
· In cooperation with the Head of School, recruit, hire, and evaluate teaching staff.
· Conduct ongoing evaluations of teaching staff to ensure they are performing effectively.
· Model for and mentor teaching staff ensuring conformity to vision and mission, and encouraging spiritual growth through prayer, communications, staff meetings, seminars, and other appropriate activities.
· Regularly and effectively communicate with staff regarding school policies, programs, events, and curriculum.
· Regularly communicate with families regarding school events, activities, and processes.
· Establish and promote high behavioral standards and expectations for students.
· Identify and help coordinate obtaining the necessary equipment and materials to support student learning and growth.
· Coordinate and manage standardized testing programs and inform parents of student progress.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
