Scintillator Development
Varex Imaging is looking for a motivated, proactive engineer to help support existing scintillator manufacturing processes and to develop new manufacturing processes to improve product performance. Along with development work, our group also helps reduce scrap, increase product quality and improve production throughput on a variety of x-ray detectors. There are always interesting and challenging opportunities in production that require us to work together as a team and leverage each other’s experience. We are a tight knit group that like to work hard and have fun as we help make our products better.
Job Description
Varex Imaging is looking for a Chemical/Mechanical/Biomedical Engineer who:

Supports mechanical systems for scintillators manufacturing by doing process characterization, and development on high vacuum evaporator and support equipment.

Optimizes manufacturing processes for performance, stability, throughput and cost.

Analyzes and troubleshoots process and tool issues.
-
Designs new hardware and fixtures.
-
Develops new processes to improve quality of scintillators.
-
Implements and refines SPC controls and automation to reduce process variation without personnel intervention.
-
Implements tool controls to enable detection of erroneous conditions.
-
Writes engineering reports documenting production issues, root cause analysis, and improvements.

Assists with validation and verification activities involved in new process development, process modifications and equipment onboarding.

Writes and maintains documents such as SOPs and WIs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Monitor processes control charts and act in case of any undesirable drift in the process.

Support existing product lines and disposition daily scrap and rework.
-
Implement design and process improvements on existing product lines to help improve product quality, performance, and throughput.

Interface effectively with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and R&D to manage complex problems across several different departments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
-
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering.

2+ years of experience developing new manufacturing processes, streamlining and optimizing existing processes, transitioning R&D products into a production environment, or in a manufacturing support role.

At least 2+ years of experience designing jigs and fixtures.

Familiarity with thin film CVD/PVD manufacturing processes.

Familiar with interfacing to analog and digital controls, control and feedback, and test software tools (such as Labview or other similar system).

Generate requirements, specifications, defining test methods/criteria/protocols and validation.

Familiarity with MS Office, SAP, and statistical analysis software.

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
