SALINA PLANING MILL, INC.

Job Title: Project Manager

Job Description: Primary point of contract with customer on projects. Maintain open communications with project team. Manage project contractual requirements, schedule, invoicing, outsourced materials, installation and change orders. Review project material invoices. Prepare shop-drawings and submittals. Conduct field visits to verify site conditions, prepare production tickets, programs, labels, cut lists, etc., requisition materials, update red-line drawings. Resolve discrepancies with product throughout project duration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take lead role in managing all aspects of assigned projects including drafting, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, delivery, punch-list, and closeout tasks.
  • Proactively coordinate project schedules with Production Manager and Customer.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel on design of custom/modified products prior to shop drawing submittal
  • Use AutoCAD to produce shop drawings in a Microvellum environment.
  • Assist with the implementation and setup of Microvellum software and build and maintain our Microvellum product library.
  • Program details and sections for fabrication, including all CNC machining.
  • Prepare material requisitions for purchasing.
  • Process projects through Microvellum and release work orders to plant
  • Prepare manufacturing paperwork, product labels, and packing slips
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities to streamline process from shop drawings to installation.

Design Software used: AutoCAD/Microvellum

Eligibility Requirements: US Citizen or immigrant authorized to work in US. Ability to climb stairs/walk on uneven surfaces without assistance, valid driver’s licenses (class C).

Position’s Supervisor: Production Manager

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • A thorough capability in architectural plan reading and specification interpretation.
  • Mechanical drafting skills and ability prepare shop drawings, and engineering products for efficient production.
  • Ability to conduct thorough and accurate field verifications/measuring.
  • Knowledge of materials: Lumber, panel products, adhesives, finishes, hardware, etc.
  • Understands wood manufacturing: Machine capabilities, processes, sequences, joinery, limitations.
  • Strong math skills with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Standards
  • Computer usage of applicable program needs.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Cost estimating.
  • Negotiating/Sales: Routine dealings with the customer necessitates these skills in problem solving and new business acquisition.
  • Contractual documents: A working knowledge of purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders, terms/conditions, bonds, and insurance.
  • Purchasing: Negotiating with and selection of vendors.

  • Be an effective expeditor: Company performance requires both internal and external expediting skills. Basically a “make it happen” attitude.
  • Accurately Document: Thorough record keeping for future reference.
  • Travel: Work requires occasional business trips, with days/nights away from home.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,500.00 per week
