Registered Occupational Therapist - temporary position

Meliora Academy is a private school for special needs students primarily on the autism spectrum. We service students ages 3-22 years old. We are looking to hire a temporary registered occupational therapist (OTR) to work mid March - August 18, 2023, Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm.

Summary: Provide quality school-based occupation therapy services, which includes but is not limited to assessment/evaluation, intervention/treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, instructional staff, related service providers, and families.

Occupational Therapist Qualifications:

• Personal experience in daily living skills is required (minimum of 5 years)
• 1-2 years of experience as an occupational therapist in school setting
• Certification as an occupational therapist by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy
• Current Connecticut license as a certified occupational therapist
• Demonstrate an advanced understanding of strategies for students with autism, developmental delay, specific learning disabilities, and behavior disorders
• Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
• Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and supervise COTA as required
• Minimum of five year’s experience in teaching Daily Living Skills with young adults
• Develop and implement IEPs goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of the child
• Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding assessment, interventions and therapy services.
• Conduct assessments including perceptive/fine motor skills, and functional activities of daily living
• Effectively interpret and analyze assessment results, and share them with staff and parents.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate data records and progress reports
