Pleasant View Gardens is on the forefront of cutting edge innovations in floriculture products. Our Research & Development department works closely with Proven Winners® and elite plant breeders to develop, trial, select, and grow the highest quality annuals, perennials, edible and fragrance plants for our market. R&D focuses on many tasks including making initial plant selections and running numerous production trials. As an R&D Full Time Crew Member, you will be responsible for day-to-day plant production tasks as well as record keeping within R&D.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plant Production Tasks:

• Become trained on performing plant production related tasks: plant identification, labeling, cutting, sticking, seeding, potting, plant maintenance, moving, shipping, dumping.
• Sample collection for virus testing when/where applicable

Record Keeping and Communication:

• Photo-documentation of trial material when/where applicable.
• Update work reports and related paperwork during and upon completion of daily tasks
• Communicate clearly with R&D coordinators regarding task details and daily/weekly workload

Greenhouse Sanitation and Cleanliness:

• Sterilize greenhouse and greenhouse areas
• Daily cleanup of tools and work area
• Maintain a safe work area (storing hoses properly, removing waste, etc.)
• Maintain greenhouse sanitation and cleanliness

Requirements:

• Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Broad knowledge and experience with horticulture/agriculture
• Excellent skills in organization and communication, detail oriented
• Demonstrated ability to be punctual and prepared to work
• General knowledge of greenhouse operations a plus
• Ability to be certified on heavy equipment including forklifts and tractors
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written English
• Non Tobacco use required
