Retail Management Internship Job Description

Nordstrom is seeking talented summer interns who possess high levels of curiosity to join our Nordstrom team. Successful Retail Interns will also have the opportunity to join Nordstrom full-time with career advancement opportunities across Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.

Nordstrom is a specialty retailer offering the very best of what’s next in fashion since 1901. As a Retail Management Intern at Nordstrom, you will gain firsthand experience as a fashion sales expert, critical leadership skills, and most importantly, learn the Nordstrom experience through the eyes of our customers. Our Summer 2023 Interns will work across Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Nordstrom Local (where applicable) to gain a full understanding of our Nordstrom market experience.

• Gain experience leading and driving a business through goal setting, team building, merchandising, and exceptional customer service.
• As an intern, your time will be spent gaining cross-functional experience in sales, operations, and services that differentiate us from the market.
• Consistently meet department, store, and individual productivity goals by building relationships with customers and employees, using Nordstrom tools to track your productivity, and actively contribute to a productive store environment.
• You will learn cross-functional division-specific standards which include divisional key performance metrics.
• Actively network within the market connecting with top sellers, leaders, from both sales and support, regional leadership, and fellow interns.
• Engage and actively participate in all learning sessions during your internship program.

You own this if you…

• Are an active university or college student or a current Nordstrom employee interested in broadening your understanding of leadership at Nordstrom, enrolled in an accredited institution graduating with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Merchandising, Business, or a related field in 2022,2023 or 2024.
• Have a passion and drive for fashion, business, and service.
• Are eager to advance your career with a fashion retailer with a reputation for legendary customer service.
• Can quickly establish rapport, assess opportunities, and are solution oriented.
• Have strong verbal and written communication.
• Thrive in a team environment, results-driven, and self-motivated.
• Can commit to a full-time schedule and have the flexibility to work based on changing needs of the business.

What’s next? We’re glad you asked…

The summer retail internship is a 10-week program and will take place from June 12th through August 18th, 2023. Interviews will be taking place in February and early to mid-March 2023. We plan on making our hiring decisions no later than April 2023. This program does not offer course credit or relocation funds.
