R. H. Ballard Shop & Gallery is a small business in Washington, VA. Our goal is to R.H. Ballard Shop & Gallery is a “destination shop", in business for 27 years, and located in a small resort town near the Blue Ridge Mountains called Little Washington, Virginia. The region we are located in is known for fine dining, wineries, hiking and art galleries. We offer a unique and artful mix of fine gifts, French Table Linen, Home Décor, Ceramics, Glassware and more. .

• Shop & Gallery Sales Manager & Digital Specialist

- 40 hour week: 10am – 6pm, Wednesday through Sunday.
- Hours: 10am – 6pm, 5 days a week. Wednesday – Sunday.
- Salary: $20.00 To $26.00 per hour based on experience.
- 10% Commission on all ART SALES initiated and closed by Manager.
- One Week Paid Vacation. After 1 year employment, Two Weeks Paid Vacation.
- Five Paid Sick Days per year. After one year, 10 paid sick days.- Paid Lunch Hour.
- Two 15 Minute Paid Breaks per day, at employee’s discretion.
- Work up to and on some Holidays (we are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas,New Years
Day).
- Month Review – Bonus on 6 th month based on performance.
- Our ideal candidate is a positive self-starter, flexible, ability to multi-task, a
people person with a background in art and/or retail sales and customer service.
- Must have time and project management experience. A sense of humor is a must.
- Retail Sales experience in luxury retail and art gallery environments a plus.
- At least 2 years in Customer Service & Sales. Manager will be on the floor of the
shop & gallery most of the time, assisting and selling to customers using extensive
knowledge of art & retail inventory.
- Excellent writing skills, blogging required. Create Blogs on website, at least 1-3
per month.
- Shop displays: experience in retail displays or willingness to learn.
- Website Maintenance experience a plus, or willingness to learn mild coding,
knowledge of CSS, LIQUID, JSON. Brief training given.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE: Lightroom,
Illustrator, Photoshop. Brief training given.
- Create email campaigns weekly and/or monthly on CONSTANT CONTACT.
- Manager will keep shop & gallery clean: dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash,
replenishing inventory, hanging artwork (with guidance).
- Manager will process shipments that arrive in the shop: Open boxes, price,
display, upload to website, create website content on products and artwork.
- Ability to pick up over 30 pounds and climb stairs daily.
- Manager will answer phone inquiries. Positive phone manner a must.
- Manager will open and close shop & gallery and will be working alone during
certain periods of time.
