Acquisition Technologies, Inc., a Virginia based Engineering and Management solutions firm is currently seeking a Senior Software (DevOps) Engineer to provide support to NASA’s EOSDIS Evolution and Development 3 (EED-3) project. EOSDIS is a core capability of NASA’s Earth Science Data Systems Program. It provides end-to-end capabilities for managing NASA’s Earth science data from various sources including satellites, aircraft, field measurement, and various other programs.

Cumulus is an AWS hosted data archive for Earth Science records from around the world. It is integrated with several EOSDIS products. As a Senior DevOps Engineer and member of the CUMULUS team, the successful candidate will lead deployment of product updates, assist in identifying production issues, and implement integrations that meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Building and implementing new development tools and infrastructure
• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to developers
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
• Ensuring that all systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes
• Working with software developers an software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
• Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions

Required Skills Include:

• Expertise with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline automation Platforms (Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity)
• Experience automating building, testing, and deploying software products
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including compute, storage, and data services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS
• Experience working in Lean Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL

Other Desired Skills Include:

• Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology
• Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)
• Experience presenting at technical conferences

Required Education & Experience (including Major):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience
• Expert or Mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
• Knowledge and Experience with Software Project Management
• Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impacts on projects, programs, or systems

Requires a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

All candidates must be able to pass a National Agency Clearance with Inquiries (NACI) Screening.

This position is located in the Metro DC area, but allows remote working with an excellent compensation and benefits package. Relocation expenses are not covered.

Quarterly travel for a few days may be required
