We are seeking a Senior Facilities Mechanical Engineer (Core Engineering), Level 5, to join our Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) Core Engineering team located in Everett, WA; Renton, WA; Seattle, WA; or Auburn, WA.
In this position, you will focus on developing and implementing engineering standards and integrating engineering teams across the Boeing enterprise.
The candidate shall be deeply knowledgeable on facilities mechanical systems such as HVAC, boilers, steam and heating water, chillers and chilled water, compressed air, domestic plumbing systems and sanitary sewer, fire protection, and natural gas and fuel systems, building cranes, and building automation systems.
The Core Engineering group is a multi-discipline engineering group within Facilities, comprised of engineers from across the enterprise, tasked with providing leadership to achieve efficiency gains through standardization and a greater level of communication and cohesion between the site engineering teams.
This role involves leading a variety of engineering initiatives which will improve operational efficiency and bring commonality to the Boeing F&AM organization. Candidates for this role will be encouraged to flexibly lead, influence and mentor within the organization.
Position Responsibilities:
Improve creativity, problem solving and project management skills and capabilities for the Core Engineering team.
Provide significant leadership within the mechanical engineering technical committee, providing updates and direction on engineering initiatives, collecting input from and sharing information to engineering teams across the enterprise.
Lead the effort to solicit engineering input and update/create documents across the enterprise to develop project templates, technical specifications, and standards to streamline communication with A&Es, contractors, and vendors including standard design criteria and statement of work documents.
Participate in national code associations, providing feedback on industry codes and requirements for the enterprise engineering community. Act as Boeing’s voice during code update cycles and facilitate updates to Boeing Design Standards and Command Media.
Create, initiate procedures for, and communicate use of Engineering Libraries and Common Drawing Repositories to be used for reference by Boeing site engineers.
Provide consultation to site engineers and business partners across the enterprise, providing mentorship on Facilities Engineering Communities of Practice and Design Practices
Perform engineering benchmarking to help the organization better understand resource requirements across the enterprise.
Lead the effort to develop highly reliable asset and asset configuration specifications, facilitating improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainability.
Provide input to strategic infrastructure planning for the enterprise including studies, analyzing current conditions and future requirements, and recommending capital improvements.
Provide strategic onsite assistance across the enterprise assisting with emergent engineering and urgent needs.
Assist as subject matter expert and/or participant in incident review boards, non-advocate review and special investigations to assist in resolution and to understand site concerns.
Develop and audit enterprise standards for mechanical systems while taking into consideration site and regional resources.
Coordinate with Global Enterprise Sustainability and site utility focal to ensure that Boeing is able to achieve corporate sustainability objectives.
Provide mentorship, act as an enterprise-wide consultant and provide quality control across the enterprise.
This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. The current expectation for the team is working onsite 1 day per week, following training, as business needs allow. The position requires up to 25% of domestic travel to other Boeing sites.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree or greater in an engineering related field
5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
5+ years of experience in mechanical or facilities engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Licensed professional (PE) engineer
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $141,100 – $190,900
