Position: Full Time Senior Research Agronomist

1. Expectations

a. Minimum of a 4-year bachelor with at least 5-10 years of experience in the ag field. Completion of a M.S. in Agronomy or related field is strongly desired.

b. Has acquired necessary licensing and willing to maintain certification

c. Is passionate about agronomics and refining ag research to a high level. This is “what floats your boat”.

d. Based on experience they can conduct and manage all types of research trials. These include insect, disease, weed, fertility, microbial, yield and regulated/GLP trials

e. Has a high level of efficiency and skill of implementation of research trials and special projects. They use their agronomic trial management experience and project management skill to manage data, clients, and trials at a very high level. They have the skills to help clients design and do the right things with their trials. The person can handle a large trial volume of work.

f. Sound decision making skills- the person works with customers and fellow employees to make all types of decisions which assist the business and customers. Decisions are made that will give the best data, efficiency, and profitability. They have the ability and credibility to coach customers on making correct decisions and interpreting results

g. They are recognized by the agronomic industry and customers as a top-level agronomist.

h. They are consistently in the top 10% of all ABG AG Services employee performance ratings for performance, workload, and execution of work.

i. They are a leader in innovation of techniques, technology, and process in the business. They are constantly developing process improvements and implementing technology improvements in agronomics and business process

2. Agronomic

a. Willing to continue and develop agronomic skills and refine systems, knowledge, and processes. For example, understanding fertility recommendations f from different sources.

b. Be open to new agronomic innovations and how to adapt and implement for agronomic research.

c. Be current with regulatory, agronomic, and environmental issues and how they impact agricultural research

d. Understand local agronomic practices and trends and how they will impact customers and their products

3. Communication

a. Be willing to review protocols and communicate with clients on how to best manage the trial for success. This may include phone calls, email or in person interactions.

b. Demonstrate competence of agronomic skill to a high level that clients are seeking advice on success with their projects.

c. Develop a high level of comfort to communicate with customers and keep them updated on projects

d. Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills- they have a high level of verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. They work well with customers and fellow employees. Fellow employees see them as experts in the field. They can work well thru adversity, and are solution oriented

4. Project Management

a. Can read and follow trial protocols and understand the intent and desired outcome for the trial. This requires the ability to apply agronomic knowledge and critical thinking to implement the trial. These skills include ensure the proper data collection techniques are being used, the trial is placed in the correct environment and the required data collects are being collected on time and accurately to meet the overall protocol objectives.

b. Ability to manage multiple, diverse, and challenging ag research and special projects. You would be expected to manage a full workload of research trials

c. Be open to coaching and mentorship and recognize personal deficiencies and how they can be improved.

d. Be willing to coach and mentor others

e. Time management- they set clear goals, manage their time well, are very efficient, and get the most out of each and every day.

5. Other

a. This job will require flexibility in schedule to complete tasks that are seasonal and driven by the environment

b. Having strong mechanical skills are a plus

c. Flexibility in work and personal schedules are necessary to complete seasonal and environmental driven tasks such as spraying, planting and harvest

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
