Further Processing Plant Intern:
Interns have the opportunity to be exposed to multiple career paths and gain an understanding of various departments, including pump, press, packaging, shipping, safety, maintenance, food safety and more. Interns will work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and spend time with plant management. Interns will also have the opportunity to network with other interns and professionals at our sister companies and discuss potential career options. Previous processing plant experience, meat judging experience or experience working in the campus meat lab are preferred but are not required. This opportunity is located in Missoula, MT, Salt Lake City, UT, and St. Joseph, MO.
Maintenance Intern:
The intern in the maintenance department will gain exposure to the support team that ensures all Daily’s Premium Meats equipment and facilities are in working order and running appropriately in order for operations to run efficiently and effectively. The intern will work with a variety of teams to perform preventative maintenance, ensure automatic systems are in working order, troubleshoot issues with equipment and maintain facilities. Depending upon the intern’s skillset, tasks such as, welding, electrical work, installations and repairs could available. Interns must have a mechanical aptitude. Technical school certificates or four-year technical college majors such as: electrical, refrigeration, auto mechanics, HVAC, welding technology, diesel mechanics, and other related fields are required. This opportunity is located in Missoula, MT, Salt Lake City, UT, and St. Joseph, MO.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This is a temporary position. Interns must be working toward a technical certificate, associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college, or a bachelor’s degree. Interns in their sophomore or junior year are preferred. Interns in their freshman or senior year will be considered on an individual basis.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual skills helpful in some areas, but not necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands may vary depending upon which department assigned to. Most positions will require the employee to regularly move about the facility. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 45 pounds and rarely push and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may vary depending upon which department assigned to. While performing the duties of some jobs, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. The noise level in some work environments may require OSHA approved hearing protection.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
