POSITION PURPOSE
The Task Force General Manager (GM) position(s) provides coverage and leadership to any of CSM Lodging Services Incorporated (CSM) hotel properties across the United States during a time of transition, during a leave of absence or acting as an Interim General Manager, until a full-time General Manager is assigned, or other Operations roles as assigned by leadership. Hotel properties range from select service to full service with multiple brands and associated systems. This position requires travel, along with hotel stay, while fulfilling the role as Task Force GM. The length of the assignment(s) is based upon the needs of the property and may require extended stays. This position reports into the SVP of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
Provide consistent, positive and planful leadership to employees in support of company core values and objectives. Be a visible leader and role model, ensuring the highest level of service is provided to employees, guests and third-party relationships. Lead team meetings, engage in one-on-ones, and conduct property / maintenance / cleanliness walks. Lead team by selecting candidates, providing job specific learning and development, managing performance through constructive feedback, recognition and coaching, delivering performance reviews and making employment decisions. Responsible for all aspects of employee relations issues and collaborating with the property’s Human Resources Business Partner. Ensure records are maintained including the contents of employee files. Adhere to and support expectations within the Associate Handbook.
Operations
Coordinate, direct and manage all day-to-day hotel operations. Work directly with property management team to achieve financial objectives, scorecard metrics and guest service scores. Ensure the financial parameters established in the budget are forecasted and upheld. Responsible for overall safety and risk management including reporting safety concerns. Responsible for inventory management and ordering supplies as necessary to ensure optimal operations for employees and guests.
Guest Service
Maintains high service and quality standards according to brand standards including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys. Assists with, encourages, provides, and trains guest service for all associates. Encourages and collaborates with hotel team to set an example of the expected level of guest service. Communicates guest feedback, resolves guest inquiries, issues and concerns in a timely and effective manner, and identifies and addresses trends.
Financial Responsibility:
Manage expenses according to budgeted/forecasted guidelines to maximize hotel profitability. Execute on scheduling and payroll expectations. Use the procurement system, order all necessary supplies, and adhere to the approved vendor network for purchasing. Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable with emphasis on following accounting procedures as outlined in CSM’s Internal Accounting Audit. Ensure the management and maintenance of company assets to stay within budget guidelines and prolong the life of company resources.
Sales
Actively participate in the hotel’s sales efforts, which could include analyzing and negotiating business, determining pricing and yield strategies, and attending sales calls/site visits to positively impact and maintain client relationships. Ensure accurate weekly, monthly, and annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans in collaboration with the hotel’s sales team. Collaborate with Revenue Manager and property sales team to implement sales strategies and a business mix that will help ensure the hotel achieves maximum revenue potential. Provide direction to property operations team to ensure the service and quality needs of negotiated accounts and groups meet and/or exceed expectations.
Human Resources
Works closely with Human Resources Business Partner to address any employee relations concerns or issues. Responsible for pro-active communication with HRBP to report any issues and document accordingly. Works alongside HRBP to minimize risk within hotel operations and provide a positive employee experience.
Other
Responsible for effective self-management, workload management and work schedule as dictated by business needs. Promotes a productive, professional, and collaborative work environment. Reside at the hotel property and be available as needed. Able to perform all duties required of a General Manager.
