Job Description & Responsibilities

Mercatalyst is looking for extraordinary Technical Support Specialist to provide technical support for internal and external equipment, systems, and services. You’ll be responsible for networking and communications, VPN, telephony, server and desktop hardware, operating systems, client applications, email, printers, and mobile devices to name a few. Ok, ok. We named eight or nine.

You’ll be expected to remove technology as an obstacle so the entire company can focus on building special ecommerce experiences. Ideal candidates are those motivated to deliver white-glove customer service within a fast paced and complex environment. Actual white gloves are optional, but we’ll totally get you a pair if you’re into that sort of thing.

You can expect to be troubleshooting hardware and software issues as they arise. You’ll be asked to create and implement policies and procedures around incident and disaster recovery. You’ll also be working with our software engineering team to plan for the support of new products and services.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has:

• A solid understanding of IT infrastructure (networking, telephony, PCs, Macs, mobile devices)
• Knowledge of basic internet protocols (FTP, HTTP, ICMP, SMTP, SSH, TCP, etc.)
• Familiarity with virtualization systems (VMware, VirtualBox/Vagrant/Veewee, Xen, Hyper-V, etc.)
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments (Amazon Web Services, Windows Azure, Rackspace, Digital Ocean, etc.)
• Experience with SaaS systems is a plus (Google Workspace, Salesforce, Slack, etc.)
• Experience with APM solutions is a plus (Boundary, Pingdom, NewRelic, Splunk Storm, etc.)

You should love gathering and graphing metrics, tweaking configuration files to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of servers, and just generally be a performance junkie.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
