Temporary Part Time Administrative Assistant

**This role is located in the Corporate Headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm with one day off during the week (day off can't be Monday or Friday)**

What You'll Do: As a Temporary Administrative Assistant you will perform administrative, clerical and general duties (often of a confidential nature) for department management and claim staff as well as assisting with projects within the department or in other areas as needed. Other duties may include:

  • Respond to and resolve customer service requests according to FBL Financial Group, Inc., policies in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner for external customers, departmental staff, and other FBL personnel at all times.
  • Perform administrative and general office support to the department including keeping inventory of office and ordering supplies.
  • Act in an administrative support role for claims staff and management.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of company or department-wide meetings. Attend selected meetings; prepare agenda, provide minutes, and document resulting decisions and action plans.
  • Perform administrative and general office support to the department including keeping inventory of office and ordering supplies.
  • Distribute, prepare memos and various reports for the Claims department as needed.
  • Open, sort and distribute interoffice mail.
  • Submit expense accounts for payment and deliver or mail checks when received.
  • Assign claims across the department as needed.
  • Provide support and/or back-up assistance to full-time department administrative assistant as needed.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • High School diploma, associates degree or equivalent required.
  • Must have organizational skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Keyboard skills of at least 50 NWPM.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills are necessary.
  • Oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position.
  • Ability to write, speak and read the English language.
  • Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.
