Position: Training Director

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Training Director reports to the Deputy Executive Director. The position will be responsible for administering the training department , administering the Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship
Readiness training programs in collaboration with the Program Manager, developing new training programs, maintaining and cultivating partnerships as they relate to training, promoting training opportunities, overseeing and growing the instructional team, innovating and partnering to develop sustainable and impactful community based work experience projects, coordinating the instructional schedule including the hands on work experience and all core and supplemental instruction.The position supports relations with the WDI board members, LEO, contractors, unions, apprentice candidates, and the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer the Training Department and Apprenticeship/Apprenticeship Readiness Training Programs

  • Supervise instructional staff and direct department functions for maximum efficiency
  • Recruit, hire, and coordinate the training for, new instructors
  • Ensure appropriate contracts are up to date for all contract staff
  • Coordinate timely payment for contract staff
  • In coordination with the Program Manager/s Develop and maintain the schedule for all

Apprenticeship & Apprenticeship Readiness Training programs

  • Facilitate training space rental
  • Nurture and cultivate parternships to enhance and sustain trainings programs
  • Ensure regular local advisory board meetings are happening and facilitate these at the Statewide level
  • Collaborate with partners and instructors to create & execute hands on work experience projects and other training opportunities across programs
  • Assemble necessary teams to create & implement new training programs as opportunities arise
  • Meet with key stakeholders such as LEO to determine future training needs and opportunities
  • Work with the program managers to create training and implementation manuals for all existing programs
  • Ensure that all grant reporting metrics are collected and reported as necessary
  • Work with the Comms department to tell participant success stories
  • Maintain and secure all records
  • Maintain confidentiality as required
  • Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment
  • Attend training, conferences, fundraisers, and seminars related to the duties of the training director

Maintain Departmental & ProgramBudgets

  • Maintain all financial and account information
  • Prepare financial reports as required
  • Work with Finance Director and Finance team in administering and auditing training program budgetsRecruitment
  • Respond to partner correspondence to Training Programs
  • Work with the Comms Director & Program Managers to ensure appropriatewritten materials for recruitment
  • Represent WDI at relevant professional conferences
  • Prepare and give presentations to stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Marketing Director and Program Managers to ensure targeted advertising campaigns are running and meeting recruitment needs
  • Evaluate and provide direction to program staff regarding necessary candidate qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in education administration, business administration, management, or related field II. Experience
  • At least three years of experience in the Skilled Trade Industry
  • At least two years of administrative experience in education;
  • At least two years in program coordination, administration, or management
  • At least two years with staff management/supervision
  • Prefer experience in curriculum development and academic administration
  • Knowledge of the skilled trades industry
  • Knowledge of educational administration
  • Knowledge of government regulations and procedures governing apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of standards for the training program
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets
  • Ability to identify grant opportunities relevant to AFA and prepare grant applications
  • Proficient use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and can electronically access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
