Transportation Safety Support Specialist

Job Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations regarding Driver Qualification files.
• Monitor and review employee performance to ensure driver pre-hire and post hire files are in compliance with DOT.
• Proactively manage all company programs, initiatives, and campaigns related to Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) to ensure/improve DOT compliance.
• Oversee assigned safety compliance area and ensure staffing levels are appropriate and are adhering to company policies.
• Keep up to date with industry best practices.
• Counsel individual employees by identifying learning requirements, designing individual training or development programs and coaching to improve performance.
• Complete quality audits of internal Safety Auditors' work and take immediate action to correct any deficiencies. Administer disciplinary action, when necessary.
• Assist in the leadership of company driver hiring criteria. Advise and train employees based on motor carrier regulatory criteria.
• Provide training, guidance, and direction to Recruiting and Compliance/Safety personnel on hiring criteria and DOT regulations.
• Work with insurance vendors to timely and accurately submit, track and finalize all claims.
• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objective.

Qualifications

• 3+ years related experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of transportation industry (required).
• Knowledge of DOT requirements.
• Experience with safety procedures.
• Bachelors degree (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work in high pressure situations in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
