Normal Bear Media, LLC is a full-service marketing agency based in Auburn, Washington. We are looking for a well-rounded, full-stack WordPress Web Developer to join our growing team. This is a Contract to Hire position with a 30-day contractor probationary period.

Our new Web Developer will be responsible for the coding, cutting-edge design, and layout of current and new websites for our amazing clients. This includes building websites from concept all the way to completion from the bottom up, including everything from the home page to site layout and function.

We prefer fully custom website builds, over “builder” and re-use a library of handmade Gutenberg components, and use ACF fields heavily. The ideal candidate will be a full-stack WordPress developer with some experience utilizing builders as well (Divi, Elementor). We also would love a web developer who has some design chops as well!

Responsibilities:

• Interact with clients & our team on a daily basis
• Manage new and existing WordPress builds with minimal supervision
• A self-guided learner with strong, persistent problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills are needed in order to juggle multiple tasks within the and tight deadlines
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse web technologies and techniques.

Required Skills:

• Great understanding of PHP, MySQL, and Git (Bitbucket).
• Bootstrap 5 and SASS
• JavaScript ES6+/jQuery
• UI/UX Design experience
• Developing custom WordPress themes and plugins
• WooCommerce theming and shipping/payment plugin knowledge

Bonus Skills:

• Adobe XD Experience (mockups and collaboration with design)
• Can debug WordPress issues and can determine if it's a plugin, permissions, or theme issue.
• WPEngine knowledge
• Experience with popular page builders (Divi, Elementor)
• Experience with basic on-page SEO and Yoast Plugin
• Experience with various CRMS is a plus (HubSpot, SharpSpring, etc.)
• Gutenberg and creating your own blocks using ACF Fields

Our Work Environment

As a 100% remote-based company, team members enjoy the benefit of working from home. Polos and other branded attire are provided, and we do attempt to get together twice a year (company-sponsored) to enjoy some team building and fun times together! We are only set-up in the following states for payroll: Washington, Ohio, and Colorado. Candidates in these 3 states preferred.
