Job Description :

Our company is a family owned and operated Christian based company. We are currently looking for an over the road driver (not home nightly) that is dependable, honest and on time. This driver will transport goods in a comfortable, safe and timely manner. To be a professional representative of the company. You will help the company increase customer satisfaction, making sure customers can depend on us for their transportation needs. To be considered for this role, you should have a valid class A CDL driver’s license, a clean driving record, pass a Department of Transportation Physical, Pass a drug test. You must have at least 2 yrs CDL experience, be effecient in operating an ELD, be able to manage time well in order to be on time to drop off and pick up locations, communicate well with customers and our dispatch team. You need to be at least 25yrs of age. Incentive based bonuses are offered. STARTING PAY IS 20% of GROSS WEEKLY LOAD INCOME.

Driver will be provided with the following:

  • 2021 Chevy 3500 Deiseal Heavy Duty Truck
  • 2022 Big Tex Goose Neck 40 ft Trailer
  • Fuel Card **Company pays for fuel***
  • All necessary straps, tarps, chains, protective equipment and tie downs
  • All required safety equipment (you will receive a steel toed boot allowance of $70.00 after initial training period)
  • All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Tools Needed
  • ELD and Truck GPS
  • Truck is equipped with internet
  • Dispatch team with contract all loads and dispatch those with all needed information to the driver.
  • Provided required insurance for vehicle and load.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule for this position is Early Monday morning to Friday afternoon/evening.
  • Must be able to pick up a load Friday and leave Sunday with a Monday delivery two times per month.
  • Maintain a current Class A CDL
  • Maintain a current DOT Medical Card
  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
  • Efficient in operating an ELD
  • Manage time very well so that the maximum of distance can be traveled efficiently per day.
  • Pick up contracted loads from the place and at the time they’ve requested
  • Communicate well with dispatch on your progress and if you experience any delays or problems
  • Properly and safely secure all goods being transported on the trailer.
  • Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions
  • Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients. Refer client questions to the dispatch team.
  • Be able to tarp loads of different sizes and shapes.
  • Be physically able to tarp 40ft long by 8.5 w and 6/7 ft tall loads. ( Each tarp can weigh up to 80lbs.)
  • Follow all safety and driving laws set by the Federal Department of Transportation and each state.
  • Be prepared for any and all Department of Transportation inspections.
  • Be professional and courteous to all Department of Transportation inspectors
  • Ensure the truck is kept in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Complete all daily inspections of truck and trailer as is required
  • Report immediately any needed repairs or service concerns for the truck, trailer or any equipment
  • Drivers will have a mandatory driving rotation of 2 weeks over the road with at least two weekends per month at home.
  • This is an over the road position. Drivers will not be home nightly.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Driver
  • A valid Class A CDL driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
  • Familiarity with GPS devices
  • Knowledge of roads and signage
  • Ability to lift heavy tarps or equipment used to strap loads to trailer as is required
  • Availability to occasionally take weekend shifts
  • A polite and professional disposition
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
  • A high school diploma
  • Have or obtain a current Ohio Department of Transportation Physical (Company can schedule a DOT physical for any employee that does not have this or needs to update it)
  • Pass a drug screening and periodic drug screenings
