Summary

This position is a growth position. The Franchise Paralegal WITH FRANCHISE EXPERIENCE, will work as an integral part of the team and must be willing to step in and step up sharing the legal and compliance role functions as well as the transactional and due diligence work. This role will assist the General Counsel with protecting the company’s legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. The Franchise Paralegal responsibilities are cross functional and will interact with the field teams, sales, development, operations, and finance. This is a role for someone who wants to be part of an enthusiastic team changing lives with math and fun.

Duties/Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare franchise agreements and related documents for new and existing franchisees. Obtain and track necessary cross functional approvals for franchisee renewals and transfers
  • Assist legal department team with due diligence process associated with review of transactions
  • Work cross-functionally to manage a large volume of transactions and franchise relationship matters
  • Prepare addendums for franchise agreements. Assist General Counsel and Legal Compliance Manager with preparation of various documents as requested.
  • Prepare default and cease and desist letters. Send and track default and cease and desist letters. Follow-up with appropriate departments regarding same.
  • Maintain and organize legal files, including updating internal systems; preparing, circulating and uploading fully-executed documents; and updating legal tracker.

Required Skills

  • Undergraduate degree
  • MUST HAVE CORPORATE EXPERIENCE - THIS IS HEAVIER CORPORATE VERSUS TRANSACTIONAL
  • FRANCONNECT EXPOSURE VERY MUCH A PLUS
  • MUST HAVE FRANCHISE LAW EXPOSURE
  • You will not be considered if you do not have FRANCHISE Legal Experience
  • Ability to design a smart and organized approach to drive initiatives and solve problems.
  • Analytical decision-making - detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with franchise laws
  • Able to communicate and provide data in a concise manor – understanding of the value of data
  • Tech Savy and able to utilize google workspace, excel, DocuSign, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
  • Cheerful, “can do” attitude – sense of humor

EXTRA CREDIT

  • Experience with FranConnect
  • Experience with franchising in Canada

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Franchise Paralegal position is offered as a full time hybrid position, it is expected that the franchise paralegal be in office three days out of the week and two days’ work remotely.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
