JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Determines methods, cutter types and cutting parameters depending on a variety of materials (composites, epoxies, steel, aluminum, etc.) and design specifications
• Designs 3-D computer models, drawings and specifications for fabrication of fixturing elements
• Creates 3-5 axis tool paths utilizing Unigraphics CAD/CAM software
• Provides input in production tracking software.
• Works with process engineers on planning of manufacturing process to ensure that quality and design objectives are achieved.
• Creates shop documentation for setup of the machines complying with ISO 9000 standards.
• Analyzes laser-tracking data to assure quality of the setup, when applicable.
• Works with the machinists to make sure setup and machining procedures are followed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required, college level or trade school education preferred. One or more years of experience in related field may be substituted for education. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

• Attention to detail and quality is required
• Reads and understands blue prints, isometric drawings and work orders
• Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads
• Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices
• Identifies and obtains equipment, tools and materials needed to properly perform job function
• Sets up scaffolding and safety barriers under direction
• Properly executes Hazardous Material Disposal activities
• Performs prescribed maintenance on machines and facilities as required
• Knowledge of common hand tools
• Works in other Cells to support Production as required, ie; Mold Fab or Assembly Cells
• Performs on the job training, AS9100, Nadcap training and other training as required
• Janicki Certified, Overhead Crane, Forklift and Manlift Operation (as a separate Certification)
• Compliance with 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices
• Operation of Pneumatic and Power tools, drills, grinders, saws, impact drivers, sanders, etc.
• 5 Axis Mill Operation, includes Tooling knowledge, Calibrated equipment, machine operation, part loading and clamping, machine maintenance
• Must be able to recognize and report machine problems and difficulties
• Understanding of mill gauging procedures
• Metrology, part leveling, fixturing, equipment handling, laser tracker, radar and targeting as well as Spatial Analyzer Operation as a separate Certification
• NC Programming (as a separate Certification)
• Familiar with the use/cleaning of shop paint guns and equipment
• Prepare and apply PCP (as a separate Certification)
• Prepare surfaces and apply Duratek, gel coat or epoxy according to work order (as separate Certifications)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to do repetitive tasks for an entire shift. Must be able to sit, stand, or crouch down for extended periods. Must be able to climb ladders and work platforms. Exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and paint fumes. Must be able to work under hot and cold conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE), safety glasses and respirator will be required. Must be comfortable working within confined spaces and at various heights
