Heavy Haul + Flatbed - Customer Experience Specialist Overview:

Heavy Haul + Flatbed - Customer Experience Specialist (“CES”) provides a fundamentally important role for Tucker, and will serve as a specialized asset for the company to grow and scale faster. Primary focus is to manage the company’s largest volume Heavy Haul + Flatbed customers, supporting the sales team’s efforts to grow and satisfy customers by building strong relationships with many stakeholders within and connected to each existing customer. Duties will include (a) improve customer penetration and satisfaction, focusing on winning new repeat lanes; (b) accept and enter loads into our TMS, set appointments, and turn shipments over to CSR team; (c) manage the variety of customer reporting as required; (d) continually farm and sell within our largest accounts, looking for opportunity; (e) carefully execute the highest level of customer service possible; (f) effectively and proactively communicate to the Sales Team and Senior Management to ensure allocation of resources and / or overall company alignment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carefully cultivate, grow and deepen relationships with managed accounts, effectively cultivating multiple layers of contacts within our customers’ businesses by pro-actively reaching out to add new contacts, strengthen relationships with existing contacts and ensure that all internal stakeholders are introduced to any new external stakeholders.
  • Grow volume and profitability of existing customers, by providing professional service, timely and accurate responses to quote requests and all other inquiries.
  • Focus on 100% customer satisfaction in existing lanes through collaboration with CSRs, and winning new lanes for Tucker.
  • Farm and sell within our largest Heavy Haul + Flatbed accounts.
  • Support, and collaborate with Sales and Senior Management regarding these accounts through pro-active identification of opportunities for additional business or process improvements.
  • Know and understand secured carrier programs where applicable.
  • Close deals, accept and enter loads, set appointments, and “gift wrap” loads for Capacity Reps. to cover, update customer on status, problems, issues, successes, and follow up after delivery. Ensure TMS contains all necessary information concerning shipment details, freight handling requirements, and all customer needs and expectations.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Track and trace certain hot customer loads; even cover freight when required, through CSM collaboration.
  • Pre-release billing audit, to confirm pricing including accessorials, ensure data fields are complete, and/or ensure EDI compliance, release loads.
  • Professionally provide pro-active communication to the account, and all stakeholders.
  • Listen carefully to customer feedback, expressed and implied, integrate it into our team.
  • Understand the marketplace, read about it thoroughly, and be able to integrate this knowledge into customer discussions regarding pricing concerns, carrier availability and other areas where market conditions effect the customer .
  • Occasional travel to accompany Sales and/ or Senior Management may be required.
  • Prepare and co-present agenda items for customer meetings: weekly; quarterly or as required.
  • Conduct conversational, higher level transportation and logistics topics with ease.
  • Confidentially handle all information in accordance with company policies.

Skills, Education and Experience:

College degree strongly preferred. 3-5 years of experience in Heavy Haul + Flatbed sales or dispatch for a truckload broker or carrier is preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, particularly strong written skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team. Position requires strong personality traits, to allow highly persuasive, professional, unflappable and savvy customer service, while ensuring all necessary details regarding a diverse customer base are met perfectly by our service team. Strong conflict resolution skills; candidate must be able to identify challenges that need to be met and overcome, diplomatically and effectively.
