In addition, West Plains has a strong Cross-Country trading program in both whole grains and Feed Ingredients.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day Human Resources operations across the assigned West Plains business units. This role will carry out various HR responsibilities including onboarding, compensation, employee relations, training and development, and performance management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Executes a wide scope of human resources programs including talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation, training and development, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention and completing personnel transactions.
· Supports external (social media) and internal communication to highlight company initiatives and activities.
· Improves manager and employee performance by identifying issues and evaluating and implementing selected solution, as well as coaching and counseling managers and employees.
· Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.
· Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
· Manages client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; preparing reports.
· Regularly visit West Plains locations to better understand the employee base of each facility and the operations of the different locations.
· Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
· Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
· Leverage working knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements in all states West Plains operates in by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Assist in ad hoc HR projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICIATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other business-related field of study.
· 5+ years HR Business Partner experience working as an HR Generalist / or specialist area.
· Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, conditional formatting, data tables, etc.).
· Ability to multitask while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in a high-paced environment.
· Excellent analytical problem-solving capabilities: ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
· Ability to combine HR knowledge with information retrieval skills and translate technical data into non-technical formats for ease of understanding and administration.
· Able to exercise a high degree of confidentiality.
· Highly energetic and self-starter.
· Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills.
