Inventory Control Manager Job Description

The inventory control manager is a crucial position in the organization that is responsible for directing the company's inventory control and inventory record accuracy programs that include the execution of inventory management strategy. The inventory control manager’s responsibilities comprise managing, controlling as well as monitoring the activities related to inventory management.

It also includes interacting with the personnel involved in various functions like material planning, warehousing, inventory control, master scheduling, receiving, and shipping, etc., ensuring compliance with all the needs of the internal as well as external customers and the organization's facility system.

Inventory Control Manager Responsibilities

• Directing and managing the tasks related to inventory management.
• Manage the inventory levels from Raw to Finished Goods. They are concerned with verifying, tracking, and reporting on inventory.
• Coordinate and direct the activities related to keeping accurate records on the incoming as well as outgoing shipments and preparing the items so that they can be shipped.
• Their role involves using discretion and independent judgment for directing the activities of inventory matters.
• To provide the necessary leadership that is associated with building as well as maintaining a strong inventory management system.
• Identify and implement a new inventory tracking system working closely with consultants and staff.
• To manage and coordinate the activities of all the staff members engaged in inventory control and inventory record accuracy
• To execute the strategic inventory plan and to manage and supervise the processes developed by the material management department to align with the corporate objectives
• To lead the organization's inventory related teams and provide leadership for training and development of departmental personnel
• To maintain inventory as required by the sales and operations planning process, customer requirements, production schedules and corporate inventory management objectives
• To review the current inventory positions for the raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods and to provide monthly summary of the same and to present it during the meeting

Required Skills and Abilities

Possess solid knowledge in inventory management related areas and should be familiar with the inventory management system. Excellent leadership skills, communication, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to develop and maintain effective relations with the staff members by extending the necessary help and support will prove to be advantageous. Project management skills, investigative nature, advanced math, and technical skills would be beneficial. You should have the ability to effectively manage the subordinates, supervise them, plan, organize and control the workflow in a team environment.

Educational Qualifications

• A BS or BA in materials, manufacturing operations, or supply chain is preferred. Knowledge in the management related area of logistics and materials is a must.
• Knowledge of computers with some certification in the relevant technical field will prove to be helpful.
• A two-year college degree in business administration with extensive inventory management experience is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
