Job Description :

The billing specialist oversees the tasks of sending invoices to clients and monitoring outstanding balances to ensure each account is paid on time and in full. They help our organization keep track of how much money is owed and by whom, often managing numerous client accounts at once. The ideal candidate must have excellent accounting skills as well as deep organizational skills to accurately handle all of the incoming payments, outgoing invoices, database updates, and more that make up their day-to-day responsibilities. On top of this meticulous attention to detail, the billing specialist must also possess excellent communication skills to answer questions for clients, solve their issues, and keep them updated with relevant account information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in insurance billing and collections.
  • Certificate of Insurance Billing preferred.
  • Must be able to professionally and diplomatically discuss difficult topics while promoting the company's position.
  • Must excel in organization and attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to problem-solve to a logical conclusion and demonstrate initiative and responsibility.
  • Must have good listening skills, and be able to effectively and clearly communicate (written and verbal) in English.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding and intermediate excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coding, billing, and collection services daily to ensure accuracy within the EMR system.
  • Assist patients with billing issues and problem resolution.
  • Review EOBs to ensure accuracy and completeness of claims billing for the maximum reimbursement.
  • Perform billing functions and extensive knowledge in claims generation, charge review, denial management, and appeals processes.
  • Review pre-certification/authorization from insurance companies for professional and technical billing.
  • Review assigned accounts, expected payments, and follow up on outstanding payments beyond the expected payment cycle.
  • Communicate with Administration, NAPA staff, and outside facilities in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner. Communicates in an accurate and clear manner to share pertinent information that is concise in both written and verbal information.
  • Provide professional services by assisting internal and external customers, answering questions, and emailing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Demands
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, colorvision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $26.44 per hour
