Riverway Clinics has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Assistant ( CMA or RMA) to work full time in the laboratory department at our Anoka Clinic. Riverway Clinics are located in the north metro suburbs offering a small-town atmosphere and are part of the HealthPartners family of care.

This position focuses on excellence toward patient centered care and patient relationships. Duties include performing blood draws per provider orders. Performing routine testing for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease, in accordance with clinical and governmental standards. QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
Medical Laboratory Technician Requirements:

o Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification by an agency approved by the ASCP Board of Certification or AMT. If not currently certified must register for certification with 45 days of hire and must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

o Qualified to work in a moderately complex laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA).

Medical Assistant Requirements:

o Completed an accredited medical assistant program, or

o CMA current AAMA or RMA current AMT

PREFERRED

o 1 year of laboratory experience.

o Previous experience with Epic or Epic Beaker is a plus.

High school diploma or equivalent issued in the United States. Those employees with only foreign educational documents must have them evaluated for equivalency to a US high school diploma, or college degree. (Please contact COLA for a list of evaluation organizations).

Skills and Abilities:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Collects and process biological specimens with appropriate technique following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform testing analysis and verify assay/analyzer performance according to SOP in an efficient quality focused, cost effective manner. Any combination of the following areas may be included: Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Immunology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Computer Operation and Reception / Greet Station.
  • Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately according to SOP.
  • Perform and documents maintenance procedures plus maintain adequate supplies.
  • Demonstrate competency and comply with all regulatory agency policies.
  • Consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service and patient experience standards. The standards include maintaining confidentiality, promoting teamwork, successful communication and conflict resolution.
  • Respond proactively to stressful circumstances, customer needs and department/clinic changes.
  • Demonstrates professional development through participation in continuing education, special projects and community/corporate/professional organizations.
  • Demonstrates personal development through dependability, professional appearance and cooperative attitude.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires full range of body motion, which includes handling and lifting patients, stooping or stretching, hand-eye coordination and manual and finger dexterity. Requires walking and standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal vision and hearing range, and the absence of color blindness.
