Qualifications

• 1 year experience as an NP/PA
• NP/PA license in the state of CA
• RN License required from NPs
• BLS from AHA

Responsibilities

• The NP or PA shall work with the Medical Directors of the District that deliver medical care and support in a pre-hospital environment along with a paramedic captain or firefighter/paramedic
• Will respond to calls for aid through the 911 system or by direct request by partnering agencies.
• The NP or PA will respond from a designated fire station or while patrolling their assigned jurisdiction. They are responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies related to clinical services provided by mid-level providers.
• Shall provide comprehensive basic care for patients in a community and home model and shall work under the direction of the District's Medical Directors, their assigned paramedic captain or firefighter/paramedic.
• Are expected to provide comprehensive basic care for patients in a community and home model;
• Deliver healthcare independently within their scope of practice;
• Assess patients for medical, physical, and psychosocial status;
• Prescribe medications within the scope of the program; provide patient education; perform and document physical exams; anticipate course of illness;
• Utilize telephonic and video platforms for patient evaluations; document patient care in a computerized patient record system;
• Order and interpret labs; implement a plan of care and treatment (may modify care as needed); recognize and manage emergency situations appropriately; promote professional growth and excellence; and perform related duties as required.
