Under close supervision, assists in the creation of design specifications for a limited variety of complex components and/or systems. Consults with senior engineers concerning design specifications, manufacturing processes, and legal, safety, and government requirements. Formulates engineering conclusions by applying engineering or mathematical principles. Prepares preliminary and alternative sketches of possible design specifications or modifications. Learning role with 1 to 2 years of experience.

General Description

The Product Engineer for Kerite Power Cable (DR-EPR Insulated, 5-138 kV Power Cable) is based out of Kerite in Seymour, CT. The Product Engineer combines technical knowledge, marketing skills, and customer interaction skills to support Power Cable product design, specifications, sales activities, and new product initiatives. The Engineer works well with others and in cross-functional teams.

Product Design, Revision, and Customer Support

• Designs new product parts in accordance with Industry Standards and customer specifications.
• Supports Sales Team by reviewing customer requirements and industry specifications to design parts that meet customer needs and to identify any exceptions to requirements.
• Contributes to marketing communications for the Power Cable Group through development of specification sheets, catalogs, etc.
• Fields technical requests and supports product-related customer issues.

Product Development:

• Supports the development of New Products through specification review and analysis, sample designs, etc.

• Develops specifications.
• Contributes to the development of Test plans for Product or System Qualification.

Quality:

• Identifies key tests needed for the product and ensures they are incorporated into the Part Design and On-Line Documentation.

• Identifies the Sampling Plan needed for each Part family and develops templates for the testing required.

Required:

Four Year Engineering Degree, Electrical Engineering preferred.
