RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop heating/cooling loop schematic for glycol or refrigerant cycle systems.
• Determine heat exchanger construction type that is best suited for the application.
• Perform heat exchanger sizing to meet the application requirements with computational fluid dynamics simulation software or any other software using appropriate set-up parameters within the customer environment.
• Determine proper sizing of components to meet heat transfer requirements: Heat exchanger , Pump, Control valves, Fan, Hose diameters
• Define heat exchanger material grades and gauges using standard dimensions and thickness.
• Provide design guidelines and direction to the designer such as fin geometry, header geometry, tubes etc.
• Determine the functional manufacturing tolerances for the assembly. Validate the tolerance stack-up to insure assembly compatibility.
• Review with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design is manufacturable.
• Review and approve 3D model and 2D drawings.
• Release heat exchanger design and all related documentation using Teamcenter and Change Management process.
• Develop test plan and procedures to measure heat exchanger performance and durability.
• Compare CFD analysis to actual heat exchanger test performance results to validate initial model and correlation. Adjust the model with revised assumptions as required.
• Support engine audits as required and validate compliance to OEM engine manufacturer requirements.
• Execute the engineering tasks in time to support the program milestones.

EXPERIENCE

Knowledge

• Knowledge of thermodynamics fundamentals.
• Knowledge of heat exchanger applications.
• Knowledge of heat exchanger construction materials and associated manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of thermal transfer industry standards (ISO, ASTM, ASHRAE, etc)
• Knowledge of CFD software, SolidWorks and Excel (advanced features).
• Functional capability on Teamcenter (Product Lifecycle Management, PLM)

Skills

• Creative, meticulous, and rigorous in optimizing design and striving for excellence.
• Ability to work in a team environment in sharing and communicating ideas.
• Ability to learn new engineering software.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Promote an environment that emphasizes professionalism, technical excellence, accuracy, and speed of execution.
• English mandatory (Bilingual - French / English a plus)
• Capable of delivering technical presentations and solutions to customers with confidence.

Educations and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; master's degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in thermal management a plus
• 10 years of experience in heat exchanger product design and development
• Member of Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
• Must be able to freely cross borders between U.S. and Canada
