Job Description

As an R&D Engineer you would be part of a team responsible for assisting in design, development, and application of new or existing products. This includes the optimizing of product design for purposes of manufacturing and/or processing; determining raw materials; determining and planning manufacturing or processing sequence, tooling requirements, the analysis of methods to reduce operating time and costs prior to release to manufacturing. Work across the development matrix with design, development, marketing, sales, and management teams to move multiple lines of products from innovation to commercialization.

Essential Duties Including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Consults with design, marketing, and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity, purpose, and types of material to be used to fabricate product.
• Writes reports/written logs detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
• Analyzes written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations.
• Selects appropriate materials and lays out design according to dimensions computed from scale drawings.
• Designs fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
• Tests experimental models under simulated operating conditions for such purposes as development, standardization, and feasibility of design.
• Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
• Help establish work procedures for building new products.
• Reports status of projects through written and verbal communication to Management.
• Helps establish standardization for new and existing products
• Complete projects within set timelines.

Job Skills:

Position requires excellent organizational and prioritization skills and expertise in a variety of disciplines including, metals, woodworking, upholstery, and fiberglass. This person will be relied upon to “make it happen” within established timeframes. In our industry fast development of new products is essential, but not at the cost of quality. Strong background in Solidworks and AutoCAD are a must. Experience in industrial tech or engineering is necessary. Experience with creating BOMS and Routers is a plus.

Education:

Four year degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design (or similar field) and/or experience in R&D with background in metals, wood, fiberglass, upholstery, CNC machinery, etc.
