The Clinical Educator is an RN position responsible for the development, coordination and presentation of clinical training and development programs to all employees, in the support of the Agency’s mission and values. This Registered Nurse Educator position works closely with new and current staff to
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assess and identify agency-wide developmental needs and arrange training solutions to address deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with all departments to plan, develop, implement, and deliver training curriculum for varying levels of staff and volunteers as an essential complement of Hudson Valley Hospice’s orientation and in-service training programs.
  • Coordinate with the VP Quality and VP of Patient Services to ensure that the in-service training provided complies with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills to ensure adequate preparation for programs, including supplies, educational materials and room and equipment needs. Will update materials as needed and properly document the attendance of staff.
  • With support from the Education Manager, will assist to provide orientation and annual classes for all levels of staff.
  • Act as project leader to determine depth and breathe for requiring Hospice Palliative Care Nurse Certification. Create and monitor related budget.
  • Keep current on updates and improvements in the field of nursing by monitoring professional trends and literature.
  • Coordinate use of grants and budget for educational offerings.
  • Participates in community education.
  • Work in partnership with departments and coordinates field evaluation and training of clinical staff for orientation, special training, or remediation
  • Collaborate with Departments in maintaining an Education resource library, including agency Intranet-, electronic-, and web-based materials.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of required educational programs for our contracted facilities.

COMPETENCIES

  • Well versed in adult education methodologies
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel as well as EMR software

  • Able to stand for periods of up to two hours without breaks
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds of training materials/supplies
  • Manage exposure in unsafe environments
  • Position requires the ability to drive on an intermittent basis

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BSN required from an accredited school of nursing with a current NYS nursing license, MSN preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with minimum of one year classroom training experience in a clinical setting
  • Certified as a Hospice Palliative Care Nurse highly preferred

Hours: Monday-Friday (8:30am-4:30pm)
Pay: $75,000/yr and up depending on experience
FLSA: Exempt
