Job Description :

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.

We are now hiring a Full-Time Assistant Executive Director in Mercer County, NJ, to provide person-centered care tailored to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Assistant Executive Director works with the Executive Director to maintain a high-quality program in accordance with the mission statement, state and national office standards, and policies of Community Options. This person will be responsible for managing DCF ( NJ Department of Children and Family) and DDD homes across Mercer County, NJ. DCF homes are devoted exclusively to serving and supporting at-risk children and families.

Starting pay is $70,000-80,000/annually

Responsibilities

  • May be responsible for all daily operations and for compliance with state licensing and reporting standards
  • Formulates and implements an advisory board which will assist the organization, and develop and expand their resources, thereby improving their service delivery
  • Presents a clear picture of issues related to their local operations to the Executive Director and/or the National office, outlining possible solutions and indicating advantages and disadvantages
  • Recommends to the Executive Director new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Director to locate and recommend appropriate grant and funding opportunities to the national office
  • Assists the Executive Director with the development and implementation of fundraising activities
  • Recommends sound personnel practices in employee recruitment, evaluations, compensation, employee benefits, and terminations
  • Partners with Human Resources to address personnel and performance issues and participate in investigations
  • Makes recommendations to the Executive Director for the development of current and future programs
  • Institutes and maintains appropriate management, financial and personnel controls, and provides the national office with the necessary documentation and paperwork
  • Prepares required statistical, financial and service reports as needed
  • Promotes and maintains the public image of Community Options, Inc., in their state and local area
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with local, state and governmental agencies
  • Participates in developing long and short-term department goals, objectives, and systems
  • May perform the duties of Community Support Staff as necessary, in accordance with current staffing needs
  • Performs all duties necessary, in compliance with state approved objectives for Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living (TxHmL) Consumer Principles for Evidentiary Certification
  • Cooperate with audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
  • Team oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
  • Understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with disabilities
  • Confident with public speaking
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

  • Frequent local travel is required in addition to occasional transportation of people with disabilities
  • May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff
  • May be exposed to various medical conditions and communicable diseases
