Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is proud to be the only two-year public higher education institution located on Native American land. As one of the 10 Maricopa Community Colleges, SCC currently serves more than 9,000 full and part-time students each semester from its surrounding communities, including the cities of Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Phoenix, and the Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community.

Scottsdale Community College is looking for a Software Developer experienced in coding web applications in PHP and related languages and libraries using standards-compliant code. Drupal 7/8/9 expertise is preferred for this web development position. The Software Developer analyzes, designs and implements technology-based solutions including web applications, database systems, and web-based solutions. This includes front-end/back-end development, core updates, maintaining contributed modules, coding custom modules, and integration and maintenance of websites and web applications.
Additional responsibilities include developing custom code to meet college business requirements, 3rd party integrations, and web services; implementing theme changes per specifications; troubleshooting and resolving technical, compliance, and optimization issues, and communicating resolutions to the appropriate stakeholders; creating test plans, implementing test plans and thoroughly testing updates; and researching, testing, and implementing web accessibility standards.
50% – PHP / Drupal Development: Creates and modifies code, tests and debugs applications; designs program code structure and requirements; monitors and troubleshoots system issues; performs system applications and/or database system maintenance; creates and modifies code for software or web applications; provides technical support for production and system/application performance
25% – Resolves help desk tickets with a high level of customer satisfaction; anticipates issues and risks in coding and development; resolves or escalates appropriately; assists in the development, documentation, maintenance and training of programming standards, procedures, data files, system interfaces and records
15% – Writes and conducts test strategies, plans, and scripts; interprets and applies applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards in code development (based on assignment); provides web content back-up as needed
10% – Keeps up with the latest trends and emerging technologies and their application to web development and shares knowledge with team members; researches, evaluates, and tests development hardware and software; performs other related duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field and one (1) year of experience in an area directly related to assignment.
OR
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field and three (3) years of experience in an area directly related to assignment.
OR
High School diploma/GED and five (5) years of experience in an area directly related to assignment.
Your resume should clearly indicate the years of full-time work experience for each of the following skills:
A. Web development/coding as a front-end/back-end Drupal developer
B. PHP development and/or theming responsive websites/web apps using related languages, libraries, and standards-compliant code
C. Designing and managing relational databases
D. Testing custom code using defined test plans and conducting appropriate testing procedures
E. Implementing web accessibility standards through coding or formatting content
F. Troubleshooting customer issues, resolving problems, documenting resolutions
