Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

The chemical engineer intern will provide support for lithium development including programs for research and other departmental projects as assigned.

The intern will be exposed to a variety of projects, activities, and operations that occur within a mineral development and renewable energy business. The intern will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.

Typical Duties

Work with chemists, chemical and process engineers, analyze data from processes and experiments, suggest improvements and assist in the basic interpretation and verifying compliance with engineering standards and practices.

Conduct research and analysis activities according to applicable regulations, manufacturing processes or other considerations and approve modification of standards, specifications and processes.

Review research, testing, quality control and other operational reports to ensure that quality standards, efficiency and schedules are met.

Prepare reports and technical papers.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications Must be a college student, second year or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in chemical engineering.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events, to draw logical conclusions, to evaluate methods and procedures and to make recommendations for actions.

Effective oral and written communication skills to transmit information accurately and understandably.

Software skills to develop spreadsheets for data analysis.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
