Flexible Automation, Inc. is a 39 year old custom assembly machine builder and robot integrator. Our specialty is the integration of robotics and vision systems for small component assembly and test. The company is located in Burton, which is South of Flint, Michigan.

We are looking for a motivated and talented Machine Designer to join our team. This position is responsible for mechanical design layout and detail drawings of automated assembly machines and robotic processing cells using Solid Works design software. Additional responsibilities could include applications and estimation with prior experience serving as a benefit.

Job duties include:

· Concept development and feasibility studies

· Designing & engineering new designs and modifying old designs.

· Developing a bill of materials and purchase parts specifications.

· Updating design files with engineering changes as necessary.

· Following assigned design project procedures in an orderly form (concept, review, design, and detail).

· Interaction and collaboration with Project Managers, Machine Shop, Assembly department and Sales.

· Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to participate in Proposal Engineering (concept development and simulations).

Required qualifications:

· 5 years of industrial automation experience, BSME preferred, but other highly skilled candidates will be considered.

· 2 years of experience designing machines in 3D required (Solid Works preferred).

· Course-work in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related field is preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess an eagerness to get involved, creativity and willingness to learn new technologies.
